About
I’m Nathaniel Senff. I plan and run emergency management exercises, and I build websites and apps for organizations that run on volunteers.
I served 29 years in the Canadian Armed Forces in operational, administrative and logistics roles, retiring in June 2025 as a Master Warrant Officer. My final posting was Administrative Company Sergeant Major with the Canadian Scottish Regiment. In 2021 I was inducted into the Order of Military Merit.
That background is where the planning comes from. I have more than 20 years running events and training, and more than 10 designing exercises. Today I’m CTO and a Senior Associate at Ally Emergency Management, where I design exercises, write post-exercise reports for public sector and industry clients, and support development of Ally’s internal tools for exercise design and delivery. I also built and look after yourally.ca.
Outside Ally, I build websites and apps, mostly on Next.js and Payload CMS, for nonprofits like YANA Comox Valley, school parent councils and lodges. I trained as an Army Journalist and photographer, which is where the communications side started.
I’m based in Comox, BC. The common thread is simple. A plan should work when it is tested, and a message should make sense the first time someone reads it.
